Its unique, boxy shape was designed with the younger generation in mind, but its appeal is more universal.
"We have clients all over the board that like it," said Kendall Berg, sales consultant for Heart City Automotive Group in Elkhart. "It's unique enough for the Y generation and practical enough for us older folk."
And every year, Scion has a special package that it includes on one or more of its models. This year, the xB's special package will appeal to everyone.
"The special release packages are a one-of-a-kind package that you won't get any other time," said Berg. "It features special colors, and features at a great unheard of price."
This year, the Release Series xBs are bright, "Absolutely Red," with a unique black grille and special wheel covers. On the inside, this year's package includes a touch-screen Pioneer audiovisual voice-activated navigation system with Bluetooth capability.
The unit also comes with UBS, SD card and iPod connectivity as well as satellite radio capability.
"The system will even play DVDs when the car is parked," said Berg.
The special interior lighting system includes red in its mix, as do the specially trimmed seats.
"There are only 2,500 of these cars produced," said Berg. "The Scion tC will also have a special release series this year. That one's going to be black."
Regardless of whether you get a special release series xB or not, all Scion xBs are loaded with standard features and powered by a peppy, 158-horsepower, four-cylinder engine paired with a standard five-speed manual transmission or available four-speed automatic.
Scion xBs come standard with anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability and traction control, a complete array of air bags and remote keyless entry. Other standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and door locks, power outside mirrors, a tilt steering wheel with audio controls, a 160-watt Pioneer AM/FM CD audio system with iPod connector and auxiliary audio jack.
And as with any Scion, the fun starts with the hundreds of options designed to make your xB a one-of-a-kind vehicle.
"You can do a lot of personalization with a reasonable budget," said Berg. "And you can add as you go."
